Citizens Advice Bureaux: Offering impartial and confidential advice on issues such as debt, money problems and welfare benefits. Most bureaux have trained advice workers who can help with budgeting and negotiate withc reditors etc. www.adviceguide.org.uk and www.citizensadvice.org.uk

Department for Work and Pensions/social security offices: Find your local office to claim most benefits if you are unemployed.

Job Centre Plus: Find your local office to claim most benefits if you are unemployed.

Law centres: Offer legal advice on housing benefits etc.

Local council: Provides a range of services. Contact your council toclaim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit or make a housingapplication.

Trading Standards Departments (consumer protection departments): Part of your local council. Contact them to complain about harassment.
